Biodiesel boosters are bullish on Texas.
With tax incentives, grant opportunities and growing demand, the alternative fuel resource has industry officials looking to the Lone Star State.

And companies pursuing the resource are enjoying mounting support. For example, the state of Texas exempts biodiesel from the diesel fuel tax.
“It is easier now to receive tax exemptions for biodiesel blends,” said Christine Herbert, Texas regulatory liaison for the National Biodiesel Board, commenting at the workshop. The board is the trade association representing the U.S. biodiesel industry.
Supporters have championed biodiesel for its potential in loosening the nation’s reliance on foreign oil while Texas producers know that it’s exempt from the state excise tax, even when blended with petroleum diesel.
Other incentives for Texas biodiesel production are grants available for projects to improve air quality such as alternative fuel dispensing stations, alternative fuel usage and vehicle replacement.
