Biodiesel Magazine: Texas Issues New Guidelines Facilitating Greater Biodiesel Use

Last week the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality concluded that air quality is simply not a reason for concern regarding biodiesel volumes associated with federally required use. The federal renewable fuel standard (RFS2) calls for minimum amounts of renewable fuel use across the country, and after reviewing the rule and how biodiesel works with the state’s TxLED (Texas Low Emission Diesel) program as well as biodiesel emissions, TCEQ introduced new guidelines that allow biodiesel to be added to any compliant fuel, at any ratio.

Agri News: Biodiesel Blenders Credit Extension Called Critical

The biodiesel blender’s credit is due to expire Dec. 31. The $1 per gallon credit is vital for the biodiesel industry, which is 25 years behind ethanol in federal policy, said Ed Hegland of Appleton, past chairman of the National Biodiesel Board. Biodiesel is a new renewable fuels industry that still needs public support.

Aledo Times Record: ISA Applauds Illinois Legislators’ Support for Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension

The Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) today applauded the Illinois General Assembly for passing a tax package that extends the biodiesel tax credit for five years, until 2018. The tax credit was previously due to expire at the end of 2013. ISA led support for the action, which includes other tax relief.

In a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., pressed senate leaders to extend critical tax credits for biofuels and bioenergy set to expire at the end of the year, including the $1-per-gallon biodiesel blender’s tax credit.

Hoosier Ag Today: Industry Appeals for Continued Tax Credit

During a hearing Wednesday, representatives of the U.S. biodiesel industry urged the Senate to pass a seamless extension of the biodiesel tax incentive to avoid putting thousands of jobs at risk. Anne Steckel, vice president of federal affairs at the National Biodiesel Board, said – this tax incentive is a job creator, and Congress will be putting jobs in jeopardy if it adjourns without passing an extension.

Biodiesel Magazine: Senate Hearing Held on Alternative Energy Tax Incentives

As many key biofuel tax incentives near their expiration at the end of this year, several biofuel organizations and companies submitted written or verbal testimony on Capitol Hill today to the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure, for a hearing titled “Alternative Energy Tax Incentives.” Among them included submissions from the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Novozymes and the National Biodiesel Board.
