Are you interested in engaging more with Environmental Justice (EJ) groups through your coalition? Discover how 100% biodiesel can meet your immediate and midterm strategies to reduce carbon and criteria pollutants in underserved communities. These communities are seeking options, like B100, to prevent premature deaths, reduce sick days, and lower health costs today. This presentation will offer Clean Cities Coordinators data and results from a new report showing the benefits of using biodiesel (B100) to reduce pollution in EJ communities as well as information on funding opportunities. The National Biodiesel Board (NBB), in partnership with Trinity Consultants, recently completed a landmark study that outlines mounting evidence that using B100 can have immediate positive impacts on the environment and health including decreased cancer risk and fewer asthma attacks. Matt Herman, NBB’s Director of Environmental Science, and Floyd Vergara, NBB’s Director of State Governmental Affairs will present the Trinity study results and environmental benefits of B100.
The presentation will also feature a conversation with an EJ grassroots organization out of New Jersey, Groundworks Elizabeth. The executive director Jonathan Phillips will discuss his experience developing an EPA Environmental Justice Small Grants biodiesel project in collaboration with the NJ Clean Cities Coalition and NBB. Jill Hamilton, President of Sustainable Energy Strategies and long-term Clean Cities consultant, will discuss funding opportunities for EJ grants and coalition stakeholders interested in implementing similar B100 projects.
